Chapter 11: Faithful

Community is a gift in times of grief. As we suffer, or loved ones suffer, we gather around one another and offer our presence and love. There are moments when silent compassion is the best we have to offer, and then there are times, as the body of Christ, when we must remind one another of the promises of God. Kapic writes, "Witness holds an important place in the Christian tradition. These days when someone hears about Christian witness, they almost inevitably thing about believers testifying of Chirst to nonbelievers. This is what we all evangelism. However, what is often forgotten is how important giving witness or testimony can be within the christin communion, especially in times of difficulty. This witness is always twofold: acknowledging that our troubles are real and that God is unflinchingly faithful" (53).

— Kelly M. Kapic
The beauty of witnessing is that we don't pretend things aren't difficult; instead, we accept them as fully as we can, but we don't stop there! In realizing our pain, we then turn to Christ together. And together, in community, we walk the narrow road of real hope.
